Yoyogi Park, a short walk from Shibuya Station, is one of central Tokyo's largest open spaces and a prime hanami destination. Hundreds of somei-yoshino cherry trees line the promenades, and the broad lawns make it ideal for picnic-style cherry blossom viewing.
The blossom typically peaks in the last week of March. Unlike more formal gardens, Yoyogi is free, open until 20:00, and allows food and drink — making it a favorite for locals gathering with tarps, snacks, and drinks under the trees.
