The Harajuku Omotesando Genki-sai Super Yosakoi (原宿表参道元氣祭スーパーよさこい) is one of Tokyo's biggest yosakoi dance festivals, returning August 29–30, 2026. Teams from across Japan converge on Harajuku and Omotesando for two days of high-energy naruko-clapper dance performances that close the road between Meiji Shrine and Yoyogi Park, with stages also along the NHK-front zelkova avenue. Each team brings its own music, costumes and choreography — every performance is a different burst of color and rhythm. The Omotesado performance teams (selected via Sat Aug 29 audition on the NHK-front street) are announced ahead of the festival on the official site. Rain or shine. Traffic restrictions are in place on Aug 30 (Sun) from 11:00 to around 16:30 — please expect disruption if you are driving. The volunteer cleanup group green bird (NPO, founded in Harajuku in 2002) keeps the venue clean, and the festival's clean-up earns them the Japan PR Award 2025 Citizen of the Year. The nearest stations are Meiji-jingumae (Harajuku) on the Fukutoshin and Chiyoda lines and JR Harajuku Station. The event overlaps with KAWAII Yoichi vol.1 at Harakado (Aug 20–30), so the final weekend is one of the busiest in Harajuku all summer.
