Shibuya StreetDance Week has talked about the next generation since 2015. Year 12 is the first time the park actually gives them a named block. On Monday 23 November 2026, a national holiday, KIDS AREA runs 11:00 to 15:00 at the Yoyogi Park event plaza, with reception from 10:30. The rest of SSDW still happens around it. The kids block is the change. Adults do not compete there. Kids DJ, kids MC, kids crews on the floor, and a studio battle judged by whoever is standing in the plaza.
REP YOUR STUDIO has a hard rule
The studio battle is four dancers, elementary age or younger, eight teams, first come. Entry opened 4 September 2026 and runs through 16 November, or until the cap. Free. Choreography and structure have to come from the kids. Teachers may not build the piece for them. The winner is an audience vote from everyone in the plaza, children and adults. Prize is an SSDW original video, shot that day. Entry is on streetdanceweek.jp/kids-entry/. If you are bringing a studio, that form is the whole job. Watching is walk-up.
The popping workshop inside the same block is a separate class. SHUTO, who runs NATURAL FUNK MOVEMENT and has brought Electric Boogaloos leader Boogaloo Sam to Japan, teaches FRESNO under the sky, a beginner session capped at 50, first come. The official page frames it as the first routine, danced together until the plaza is funk. A four-person crew does not belong in SHUTO's 50-person slot expecting a score.
The ambassadors used to be the kids
Arts Council Tokyo's 1 October release put four names on the poster because they were the super kids of the last decade. MAiKA now produces kids teams and judges Battle Park. Yuta won WORLD DANCE COLOSSEUM WORLD FINAL 2024, the high-school world title, and performs on Rainbow Stage. KAZANE took second at JUSTE DEBOUT FINAL at 12, a house dancer with more than 20 world-meet wins, and judges SSDW CONTEST. SHOYA DIVAO joined D.LEAGUE side dip BATTLES and teaches in Chill Out Space. DANCE WITH music puts them on the same band, NAGAN SERVER Jam Band, hired for this edition. The kids area is the pipeline they came through, drawn on the park map.
KIDS SHOWCASE already lists three crews. ガッツメンとパワフルガールズ from StudioD+ in Adachi. RIRIKA CREW from SRN GOLD RUSH in Edogawa, with RIRIKA as choreographer. She also coordinates the whole kids block. Sugar Hill is three elementary popping dancers from Shuru's S Bloom private class, a team only since April 2026. MC is ☆光星☆, eight years old, six years dancing, and Hana, a high-school locker who holds a Naked Mojo Japan title. DJ time is AlphaTheta Yokohama DJ Lab kids, with Yamato, who DJed SSDW battles before he turned twenty. That roster is why the 11:00-15:00 window is short and dense. It is a timed programme.

RAINBOW STAGE, BATTLE PARK, BREAKING AREA, CHILL OUT SPACE, and the high-school contest keep their own clocks. Battle Park and SSDW CONTEST opened applications on 4 September and 17 July. Inclusive pair workshops sit in Chill Out for people who do not dance, including tourists who walked in from Harajuku. Outdoor programmes are free. The paid or capped pieces are the application forms. PRE JAM is Sunday 8 November at En Dance Studio in Shibuya, a MiYU dance class plus a DJ workshop, also by form. Do not show up at En on the 8th without that email.
The same holiday, the zelkova path runs FOOTBALL PARK SHIBUYA 2026 and BE STAGE runs NEXT GENERATIONS GAMES 2026. The park will be loud in three directions. Enter from Harajuku or Meiji-jingumae, not from Shibuya Station, unless you like a 20-minute walk through the scramble first. Dates, zone list, and the official URL sit on the event page.
